Zabon Ramen is probably the only ramen house you’ll visit that has a prominent disco ball. This ramen bar concept focuses on late night comfort food, beer and will soon add a DJ. Shugo Hayakawa, the General Manager, explains that the three presidents used to be DJs and are committed to creating a music-focused venue with plenty of room to dance.

The newly opened restaurant promises to be a late night destination for a comforting bowl of soup, loud music and a plentiful assortment of beer. Hayakawa describes Zabon’s ramen as the perfect post-drinking meal. Unlike heavier tonkatsu ramen, Zabon uses a broth made of vegetables, pork and chicken; although, a vegetarian broth is in the works. The curry ramen has a secret recipe broth that has shallots, beef chunks, apples and chocolate.

Zabon serves spicy ramen, curry ramen and ramen with chashu or deep fried marinated pork slices and a variety of toppings like chili oil, garlic chips and kimchi, so you can customize your ramen. Pair your soup with a Japanese beer like a Kirin or Orion, from Okinawa.

Zabon is still finalizing their concept and will continue to add food, beer and music to their lineup but, they are already gaining popularity among the music-loving ramen crowd. Stay tuned for more and be sure to stop in for your late night ramen and a beer or two.

Zabon Ramen is located at 61 South Fair Oaks Avenue. Call (626) 787-1355 or visit www.zabonramen.com.
