pasadena-courthouse11This week, one high-profile Pasadena criminal case will move forward in Pasadena Courthouse of the Los Angeles County Superior Court. Here’s an update and profile of each of these cases.

Pretrial for Jose Gabriel Diaz Servellon, May 24

Jose Gabriel Diaz Servellon is facing charges of kidnapping, assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury and criminal threats for allegedly grabbing a woman and trying to put her in his pickup truck on July 29.

The 19-year-old victim was walking near Maple Street and Fair Oaks Avenue in Pasadena when Diaz Servellon allegedly pulled over in front of her and waited for her to pass him by, prosecutors said. When the woman passed by, the suspect allegedly grabbed the woman and dragged her on the ground toward his truck while threatening her life.

The defendant allegedly released the woman and fled the scene after a good Samaritan driving by saw what was happening and pulled over, prosecutors said.

Diaz Servellon pleaded not guilty to the charges in August. He is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail and faces up to nine years in state prison if convicted.

Deputy District Attorney Melanie Bowlby is prosecuting.
