Guitarist John Pisano, with Chuck Berghofer on bass and Ran Brinker on drums, will be performing at The Mixx, at 443 E. Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena, every Tuesday through February, from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
John Pisano is recognized as one of the nation’s finest jazz guitarists. He emerged onto the scene in the mid-50s, first recording with the legendary Billy Bean, and drummer Chico Hamilton. He then became an active member of the Los Angeles studio scene, adding his touch to groups led by Buddy DeFranco, Red Norvo, Bud Shank, and Benny Goodman.
Pisano has accompanied some of music’s biggest names, including Peggy Lee, Tony Bennett, Burt Bacharach, Frank Sinatra, Michael Franks, Clare Fischer, Julie London, Bobby Troup, Natalie Cole, Joe Pass, Barbra Streisand, and Diana Krall. He is a founding member of Herb Alpert’s Tijuana Brass and obtained some solid experience working with Sergio Mendes.
