Junior League of Pasadena Announces the Support and Development of Women as New Focus Area

The Junior League of Pasadena, Inc. (JLP) is excited to announce its new community programming focus area, the “Support and Development of Women.” The JLP’s community outreach and programming will now be focused on business, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills for women in the San Gabriel Valley.

The JLP has spent the past two years researching relevant focus areas in the San Gabriel Valley. Another focus area of consideration was “Youth Wellness and Mental Health.” Both are definite areas of need and the JLP met and worked with local organizations, community leaders, hosted panel discussions and conducted other research to identify how they could best serve each possible focus area.

JLP members received training and education in both areas and were asked to vote for one. The “Support and Development of Women” was revealed as the new focus area to membership at the Annual Meeting on May 26. “This is an exciting time and new chapter for the Junior League of Pasadena. This is an issue area receiving national attention and we are thrilled to put the power and backing of the JLP and its mission behind the support and development of women in the San Gabriel Valley,” Kristen Todd, 2014-15 JLP President.

Founded in 1926, the Junior League of Pasadena’s mission is to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women, and improve the local community. Throughout its 89-year history, the JLP has helped to create programs that leave a long-lasting impact on the Pasadena community. Past JLP projects include Kidspace Children’s Museum, the docent program at the Huntington Library, and La Casita at Madison Elementary in Northwest Pasadena.
