Boy Stabs Man in Random Attack on Union Street

Pasadena Police responded to an assault in the 800 block of E. Union Street at 5:28 p.m. Sunday and, upon arrival, found a 32-year-old Southgate man with stab wounds to his head.

Pasadena Police Lt. Mark Goodman reports that the victim was at the location waiting for a friend when he was approached from behind by the suspect who struck him in the head with the handle of a large kitchen knife and then proceeded to stab him several times in the head.

The victim sustained serious injuries but was able to run away from the suspect and call for help.

Police found the suspect, a 15-year-old Bakersfield resident, at a home in the 600 block of E. Union Street. The weapon used in the incident was also recovered.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

The suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder. He was booked at the Police Department and subsequently transported to a juvenile detention facility.

The victim and suspect were not known to one another, and the motive for the attack is unknown.
