Comedian Ken Jeong goes back to his roots at The Ice House comedy club in Pasadena for his first stand-up comedy special.
Deadline Hollywood reported that the Netflix special will be filmed at the club, where he first got his start before going on to success with roles in the “Hangover” films, the series “Community” and his own show “Dr. Ken” which aired for two seasons on ABC, will film the special this fall at The Ice House.
He has named the special “Ken Jeong: First Date.”
Before going into acting, he had trained as a medical doctor. Earlier this month, Jeong stopped his routine while performing at the Stand Up Live Comedy Club in Phoenix, and jumped from the stage to help a woman in the third who needed medical assistance. A TMZ report said Jeong stayed with the woman until an ambulance arrived and she was taken to the hospital. Then he returned onstage and completed his routine.
In the upcoming Netflix special, Jeong comes full circle and returns to the Ice House stage to reflect on how he went from being a doctor to comedy superstar, and opening up about his wife’s battle with breast cancer and how that led to him starring in one of the biggest comedy franchises of all time, “The Hangover” trilogy.
Jeong and Brett Carducci will serve as executive producers, Deadline said in the report.
