La Cañada Presbyterian Church’s (LCPC) Parent Education Program kicked off its 41st year this past week with classes beginning September 9 – 13, 2019. The program continues its legacy of quality education with reputable staff for parents of children 0-18 by offering 16 weekly classes from September to May along with our exciting evening Parent Express program that offers month long classes for parents who cannot attend during the day.
In preparation for the new year, a Welcome Tea for all Staff, Board and Ministry Support Team members was held on September 3rd. This year’s Parent Education team includes well respected staff members Anne Bierling (Director), Amanda Baughman, Nanette Brown, Paige Dunbar, Heather Ehrhart, Melanie Frey, Paula Giboney, Jana Khachik, Daniela Kim, Sarah Montes, Darlene Porter, Vicki Rekedal, Katy Riddell, Jan Roberts, Paige Thatcher, Tracy Tobias, Sloan Walsh, and Jana Van Dyck who are all supported by dedicated
Board and Ministry Support Team (MST) volunteers Betty Bredemann, Debbie Barsom, Katie Enney, Stephanie Ferguson, Adriana Leaw, Melanie Frey, Lynne Graves (MST Chair), Katrina Harbers, Kathy Kovalcik, Maggie Mason (Board Chair), Charlotte Miller, Monica Skeehan, Cathy Steward, Barbara Stratte, and Mikki Weightman.
Kicking off its 41st year of helping families thrive, Parent Ed offers 16 daytime classes and 7 evening classes for parents of children 0-18 that provide education, friendship, and sustenance. Daytime classes include Parent-and-Child Classes where both children and adults form lasting friendships as well as receive valuable education from seasoned educators as well as Parent-Only Sessions to talk over the extra set of challenges that accompany raising elementary, tween and teen children. Parent and Child classes include Expectant and New Parents, Non-Separating Toddlers, Two-Year Olds, Parenting 3 – 4s, and Family Class. Parents with school-aged children attend Parent-Only Sessions. Classes include Parents of Elementary Kids, Parents of Tweens, Parents of High Schoolers, Parenting Your Exceptional Child, Art of Fatherhood, and the new Grandparenting Class. Classes meet weekly September through May and attract over 600 participants from 22 different cities. Classes fill up quickly, so register ASAP!
