Labor Day Closures, Reminders Announced

Pasadena residents and businesses are reminded that City Hall and many City services will be closed on Monday, September 3, in observance of Labor Day.

The City Council not meet on either Monday, Aug. 27 or Sept. 3, but will resume its regular meeting schedule on Monday, Sept. 10.

Pasadena Fire and Police Departments will continue to be staffed during the holiday for all patrol, jail, fire, paramedic and other emergency services.

Pasadena residents and businesses with any power emergencies should call Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) Department at (626) 744-4673. For water-related emergencies, please call (626) 744-4138. PWP’s regular Customer Service Call Center will be closed for the holiday, but customers can still pay their bills by phone at (626) 744-4005. The City’s Municipal Services Payment Center at City Hall also will be closed for Labor Day.

Refuse, yard waste, recycling and bulky pickup services by the Public Works Department will be delayed by one day during the week of Labor Day, Sept. 3-8. Monday pickup will occur Tuesday; Tuesday pickup will be Wednesday; Wednesday pickup will be Thursday; Thursday pickup will occur Friday and Friday pickup on Saturday. There will be no bulky item pickups on Saturday. For more information about refuse pickup schedules, please call (626) 744-4087.

The Central Pasadena Public Library and all library branches will be closed on both Sunday, Sept. 2 and Monday, Sept. 3 in observance of the holiday.

The City’s ARTS (Area Rapid Transit Service) and Dial-A-Ride transportation programs will not be operating on Sept. 3, but will resume normal schedules again on Sept. 4. All parking meters are free and parking time limits will not be enforced on Sept. 3. Violations for red curb parking and blocking fire hydrants will continue to be issued.

All Recreation and Community Centers operated by the City’s Human Services and Recreation Department will be closed on Labor Day, Sept. 3, but all parks will be open for picnics, fun and play. No site reservations are accepted for the holiday.

Labor Day Weekend also will be the last weekend of the summer season to enjoy the water play facility at La Pintoresca Park, 45 E. Washington Blvd. The water play facility will be closed beginning Sept. 4 and will re-open next Memorial Day Weekend, 2013.
