The Pasadena City College women’s water polo team placed two players on the 2014 All-South Coast Conference First Team in sophomore center-forward Stephanie Velasco and freshman utility player Ariahn Givens.
Velasco, now a 2-time First Team selection, led the Lancers in scoring for the second straight season with 77 goals. Velasco (Eagle Rock High) added 56 steals and 21 assists. Her 140 goals over two seasons makes her the school’s second all-time leading scorer. Twice, Velasco scored eight goals in a game this year.
Givens, from Venice High, established a new single-season steals record for PCC with 126, second most in the SCC. She added 42 goals and a team-high 32 assists. Givens set a single-game record for steals when she made 13 in a late-season match against Santa Monica.
Sophomore center-forward Caroline Liu (Mark Keppel High) scored 33 goals this year and was picked as an All-SCC honorable mention.
