The Pasadena City College women’s volleyball team evened its South Coast Conference record at 3-3 behind its first sweep of the season, a 25-23, 25-20, 25-22 triumph over Los Angeles Harbor College Friday night. The match was played at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

The Lancers (3-10 overall) were paced again by frosh outside hitter Lahiz Longobardi, who pounded 21 kills.

PCC had to rally in each of the sets, including coming back from a 7-3 deficit in the opening game. Harbor led as late as 17-16, but a Longobardi kill gave PCC a 20-19 advantage, a lead it wouldn’t relinquish.

In set 2, Harbor led 8-4, but Longobardi scored five consecutive kills on one sideout to give PCC a 9-8 lead. Harbor led 14-13 before the Lancers went on a 7-2 run and then finished off the game win on a Michelle Boyd kill.

In the final set, the Seahawks led 10-9 and then 17-16. At 19-19, Longobardi served back-to-back aces for a Lancers’ lead. Chy’annea Hodges slammed a kill for match point.

Sophomore setter Megan Williams scored 32 assists, three kills on dump plays, and added 10 digs. Hodges had six kills and three blocks while libero Sabrina Takeuchi totaled 18 digs.

PCC hosts first-place and state No. 10-ranked El Camino College on Friday, Oct. 24 in a 6 p.m. match.
