La Cañada Presbyterian Church’s (LCPC) Parent Education Program kicked off its 39th year this past week with classes beginning September 12 – 15, 2017. The program continues its legacy of quality education with reputable staff for parents of children 0-18 by offering 16 weekly classes from September to May along with our exciting Parent Express program that offers month long evening classes for parents who cannot attend during the day.

In preparation for the new year, a Welcome Tea for all Staff, Board and Ministry Support Team members was held on September 8th. This year’s Parent Education team includes well respected staff members Anne Bierling (Director), Amanda Baughman, Sophia Boss, Nanette Brown, Jana De Grange, Paige Dunbar, Heather Ehrhart, Rebekah Garcia, Jana Khachik, Nicole Ravana, Jan Roberts, Paige Thatcher, Tracy Tobias, Sloan Walsh, and Jana Van Dyck who are all supported by dedicated Board and Ministry Support Team (MST) volunteers Ashley Barrett, Hillary Clayburgh, Katie Enney, Betsy Farhat, Melanie Frey, Lynne Graves (MST Chair), Katrina Harbers, Kathy Kovalcik, Maggie Mason, Charlotte Miller, Sarah Nagel, Darby Pearson, Angela Shepherd-Isgholian, Ashley Smith, Carol Van Citters (Board Chair), Meg Wade, and Mikki Weightman.

In recent years, LCPC’s Parent Ed Program has attracted approximately 400 parents and children from 22 cities — driving within a 30 mile radius of La Canada. Free Trial Classes are available any time. Parent Education offers age-specific topics designed to guide parents through childhood challenges from preparing baby’s first foods to prepping for the SATs. Through open discussion parents bond over the challenges of raising children and walk away more prepared to face the daunting task of raising children in today’s world.
