Leadership Pasadena Elects New Board Member Felicia Friesema

Leadership Pasadena is growing! The leadership growth and community involvement organization voted unanimously to elect Felicia Friesema to the Board of Directors as VP of Marketing and Communications. Friesema is the 12th board member to join the organization, which is chaired by Alma Apodaca.

“We are very excited to have Felicia join the LP Board of directors. Her passion for community service and marketing expertise will serve us well as we continue to deliver our cornerstone program to develop community leaders, and as we prepare to launch our inaugural Veteran Program in May. Felicia joins a strong board whose commitment to Pasadena and surrounding communities is evident in the many collaborations we are involved in.” Board Chair Apodaca stated.

Friesema, a Pasadena native, is the Director of Marketing and Communications for Foothill Transit, the primary public transportation provider for the San Gabriel and Pomona valleys. As spokesperson for the public agency for the past 14 years, Friesema has enhanced the local visibility and understanding of public transit as a vital part of a healthy urban and suburban ecosystem that values quality of life, growth opportunities, and improved mobility. She has also been a freelance writer for various local and national publications including the LA Weekly, Edible Westside, and Modern Farmer. She previously served on the Board of Project Amiga in El Monte and has worked in development for the YWCA San Gabriel Valley, the LA Arboretum Foundation, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

“I am excited and honored to join such a dedicated and passionate team of volunteers,” said Friesema. “I have deep roots in the community through both my family and my career, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to give back to a city that generously gave so much to me.”
