Leadership Pasadena’s Community Leadership Course for Veterans got a personalized primer on managing money, budgeting, small business loan opportunities and complications, conventional and VA mortgages thanks to Colin MacKenzie, USN veteran and Investment Advisor at Cetera Advisor Networks LLC and Loan Officer Michelle McConnville of Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation both located here in Pasadena.
The cohort was hosted at Cetera Advisor Networks office in Pasadena.
Collin shared his transitional story after leaving the UNS as an officer for many years and the challenges he faced and how he has achieved success and fulfillment in his profession.
Michelle informed the group that she helped her own mom get a VA loan at a 60 when she had to buy a home on her own so Michelle takes a personal as well as professional interest in helping military veterans find an appropriate and affordable first home.
The Leadership Pasadena cohort includes a several veterans embarking on their own businesses and others hoping to purchase a home in the next few years so this workshop was of great importance to them to talk one on one with experts in the field, and experts they could trust. They received information that was new to most of them and information that was more correct then they had been following.
With a lot of eye-opening thoughts and ideas presented, Colin closed with advising the class to prioritize what they learned and focus on making just one change. Trying to change too much all at once often results in changing nothing. Make one change. Master it. And then move on to the second change. Progress is one step at a time.
