Learning Works Charter School's A Magical Night

Learning Works Charter School, a Pasadena-based public school serving area dropouts, is holding its fifth annual fundraiser, Invest in a Dropout on Thursday, October 26. The event features presentations by students and staff, as well as dinner and both silent and live auctions.

“Invest in a Dropout has typically been a fun and compelling event, particularly for the people who are not familiar with our school,” said Mikala Rahn, founder of Learning Works. “We take a completely different approach than traditional schools, and this is a chance to talk about what those differences are, in a relaxed setting.”

Invest in a Dropout takes place on Thursday, October 26 at Noor in the Paseo from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Auction items include tickets to the Magic Castle, a Pasadena Police ride-along, a custom designed bracelet and a Santa Anita horse racing package. Tickets are $100 each and tables of 10 are $1,000.

The mission of Learning Works Charter School is to provide a personalized, rigorous academic program and relevant life skills to traditionally under- served students in grades 7-12 who have withdrawn or are in danger of withdrawing from mainstream education, without attaining a high school diploma. The school is a laboratory for strategies that work to re-engage disenfranchised youth back into education.
