Letter to the Editor | Sherri Bonner: Planned Parenthood Pasadena Will Continue to Fight for Our Patients

On October 4th SCOTUS announced that it will review Louisiana’s Act 620, an abortion restriction nearly identical to one of the Texas restrictions struck down just three years ago by the Supreme Court in Whole Woman’s Health vs. Hellerstedt, that required physicians who perform abortions to have local hospital admitting privileges. The only difference this time around is that Brett Kavanaugh now sits on the Supreme Court, and he is poised to deliver what anti-choice activists have wanted for decades: a world in which abortion is inaccessible.

The right of women to control their own lives and bodies is in the hands of a hostile majority on the Supreme Court and hostile administration in the White House. If this Louisiana law is allowed to stand, generations of women will face a world where their right to self-determination and bodily autonomy sits squarely in the hands of men determined to take these freedoms away.

In California, Planned Parenthood is working to break down medically unnecessary barriers to care to ensure that no matter what, people in here have access to essential health care. We will continue to fight for our patients across the country, as we always have.
