Latin Reggaeton star Farruko and former Fifth Harmony star Ally Brooke will be the featured performers for “Reach for the Stars,” the Opening Spectacular at the 131st Rose Parade on Jan. 1.
The Spectacular will include a song written and produced by the legendary producer and 19-time GRAMMY award-winner Emilio Estefan.
The inspiring, uplifting number embraces a wide array of musical styles including samba, rap and one beautiful melodic voice.
It was written and produced exclusively for the Tournament of Roses.
Estefan’s “Reach for the Stars” will feature one of the biggest and most popular Latin Reggaeton artists in the world – Farruko, who won a 2019 Latin GRAMMY for Best Urban Fusion/Performance.
He will be joined by San Antonio-born Latina Ally Brooke, known for her work in the group Fifth Harmony. Brooke is a competitor on “Dancing with the Stars” and will bring her music and dance abilities to the opening number.
Bringing it all together, adding additional energy to the streets of Pasadena, are the immensely talented and six-time WGI World Champion members of the Chino Hills High School Drumline.
Estefan is known for his guidance of the careers of several music superstars. He also produces events for Hispanic TV markets. He has produced the Latin Grammys, Nuestra Navidad, Hispanic Heritage awards and for productions on Showtime and HBO.
Jordan Fisher and Chaka Khan were featured in the Opening Spectacular last year.
The theme this year is the “Power of Hope.” The Opening Spectacular will fill Orange Grove Boulevard between Green Street and Colorado Boulevard ay 8:00 a.m. on January 1, 2020 to kick off the parade.
