This month brings the 12th Annual Pasadena Dance Festival, plus a return of last year’s moving dance/theater piece Waking in the Mourning, and a new collaboration on Ceiling In the Floor with A Noise Within theater!
The 12th Annual Pasadena Dance Festival is Coming
Come to Lineage’s Award-winning dance festival and take classes, participate in workshops, see performances by dance companies from all across California, and be a part of a growing community. There’s a little something for everyone this year, with classes and workshops in hip hop, ballet, bollywood, tap, modern, yoga, pilates, capoeira, jazz, and more.
Do you have family that wants to catch a showcase, but isn’t participating in classes? This year we have individual showcase tickets for each of the three showcases (11 am, 4 pm, and 7 pm), or $25 observer passes that let family and friends observe the entire day.

Waking In – A show about more than surviving…
After inspiring many profound conversations within the walls of Lineage, last year’s Life After Death for the Living is making a return with a new name: Waking in the Mourning. The show weaves together the true stories of three women as they struggle to process their own grief after losing a loved one.
Featuring live music and original choreography from Lineage Dance’s Artistic Director, Hilary Thomas, the show takes us on a visceral journey through love, loss, and finding new life…after death. Hilary is known for her care and skill in exploring difficult topics intelligently, creating a beautiful and moving theatrical experience. Click below for tickets and more information.

Ceiling in The Floor at A Noise Within
Originally planned as a one-night-only event, Ceiling in the Floor has become one of the most requested and toured shows in Lineage’s history.
Years ago, two students at Pasadena’s Polytechnic School met and became best friends through their love of music and art. A decade later, mental health issues have pulled their friendship apart. Part dance, part monologue, part live music, Ceiling in The Floor is the deeply personal true story of two local Pasadena artists who went from inseparable to non-speaking as the result of a quiet struggle with depression and suicide.
The performance will be followed by a Q&A with experts from mental health service organizations, Artistic Director Hilary Thomas, and members of the Lineage Dance Company.
