Local Celebrity Host Dr. Drew Pinsky’s TV Show Cancelled After He Offers Negative Comments About Hillary Clinton’s Health

Dr. Drew Pinsky, the famed TV and radio host, physician and Pasadena native known simply as “Dr. Drew,” was pulled from the CNN lineup last Thursday and his six-year-old HLN show cancelled after he offered medical speculation on Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s health and the health care she is receiving.

CNN Executive Vice President Ken Jautz said he and Pinsky mutually agreed to air the final episode of the six-year-old show,  “Dr. Drew On Call,” on September 22, according to a statement made to CNN Money.

“Dr. Drew and his team have delivered more than five years of creative shows and I want to thank them for their hard work and distinctive programming,” Jautz said in the statement. “Their audience-driven shows, in particular, were innovative and memorable television. Dr. Drew has always been an authoritative voice on addiction and many other topic issues facing America today.”

The decision to end the show came just eight days after Pinsky’s comments on “McIntyre in the Morning,” a Los Angeles-based radio show presented by ABC.

After looking at some of Clinton’s health records that were made public in 2015, Pinsky said that he was “gravely concerned not just about her health, but her overall health care” and described the treatment she’s received as “1950-level care.”

“What is going on with her health care I got to tell you, it looks bizarre,” said Pinsky on the show, according its transcripts. “That is brain damage, and it’s affecting her balance. Now clearly, it hasn’t affected her cognition. It just seems like she’s getting care from somebody that she met in Arkansas when she was a kid, and you’ve got to wonder.”

This was Pinsky’s second dabble into the subject of Clinton’s health. In January, Pinsky reportedly made on-air comments about Clinton’s late return to the debating stage after a break, suggesting that it was due to a “brain injury,” according to Breitbart News.

Pinsky, a veteran talk show host who has worked with KROQ, MTV and VH1, will remain as a contributor for CNN Worldwide, according to HLN.
