The Pasadena Public Health Department shut down Carniceria Ramirez on August 22, 2016 after the market failed inspections triggered by a customer complaint.

The investigation reports the meat market located at 662 Lincoln Avenue was in violation of code, likely due to cockroaches, rodents or flies.

Carniceria Ramirez scored a 70 on the department’s inspection scale of 100, where a passing score is 85 or above. The market scored a 98 on the last routine inspection on April 14, 2016, after failing a month before with a score of 54.

According to Rachel Janbek, Pasadena Public Health Department Environmental Health Division Manager, the market remains closed at this time.

“The reinspection will be at the request of the operator and has not yet been scheduled,” Janbek said.
