Local Progressives Meet Friday to Hear Update on Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

Estee Chandler, founding organizer of the Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) Los Angeles Chapter, and Judeh Mirvette, Vice-Chair of the Arab American Civic Council.

This Friday’s Progressive Discussion Group in Pasadena will feature a report on the current state of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the Trump administration’s position on the issue.

Civil rights attorney Dale Gronemeier said the discussion will spotlight Estee Chandler, founding organizer of the Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) Los Angeles Chapter, and Judeh Mirvette, Vice-Chair of the Arab American Civic Council.

Chandler serves on JVP’s National Legislative Leadership team. Along with Nagwa Ibrahim, Estee produces and hosts the long-running KPFK radio show “Middle East in Focus.”She also produces and hosts “Middle East Minute+,”a daily short news report focusing on the Middle East.

Mirvette is a Palestinian activist who’s on the Executive Board of the 65th District California Democratic Party, and on the Advisory Board of Council on American-Islamic Relations, Los Angeles/Orange County.

The panel will be from 9 to 10 a.m. at Du-Pars Restaurant and Bakery back room, at 214 South Lake Avenue in Pasadena.

On September 20, Mayor Terry Tornek and PUSD Board member Pat Cahalan will be leading a panel discussion on the local sales tax proposition.

The Progressive Discussion Group is a Pasadena-based political thought incubator that meets the first and third Fridays of every month in the Du-Par’s Restaurant back room to discuss a designated topic. Meetings are open to anyone wanting to attend. DuPar’s issues separate checks to attendees, so guests can have coffee, breakfast, or just thoughtful discussion of progressive issues.
