Pasadena continuing care retirement community Villa Gardens has been chosen to receive the 2018 Choice Community Awards and Holleran’s Highest Honors by Holleran Consulting, a research and consulting organization that offers employee and resident engagement benchmarks to senior living communities across the country.
Front Porch is a non-profit organization serving more than 5,000 residents in senior living and affordable housing communities, mostly in California.
The organization has 10 full-service retirement communities in the state, including Pasadena’s Villa Gardens, and two adult living communities, one in Louisiana and another in Florida. It also serves individuals and families through 25 affordable housing communities managed by CARING Housing Ministries, a division of Front Porch.
Aside from Villa Gardens, Casa de Mañana in La Jolla and Sunny View in Cupertino also received the 2018 Choice Community Awards for resident engagement from Holleran Consulting.
“This recognition speaks to a community’s culture and their ability to bolster resident voice, strengthen their connections, heighten individual fulfillment, and enhance physical and emotional well-being,” Connie Wolfe, Executive Vice President of Holleran Consulting, said.
Choice Community Award winners are recognized based upon two metrics: resident engagement index scores and residents’ ratings of their community as a great place to live with an enriched culture of engagement.
Villa Gardens also received Holleran’s Highest Honors, recognizing outstanding efforts in providing the highest level of engagement to residents. The community scored above 96 percent of Life Plan Communities in the Holleran Benchmark in the area of supporting residents’ voice. It also 88 percent in Connection, 87 percent in Fulfillment, and 91 percent in Well-being, scoring at the top of the National Benchmark, the statement said.
“We are honored to be recognized as Holleran’s 2018 Choice Communities and Highest Honors,” Sally Plank, Senior Vice President of the Organizational Accountability Group at Front Porch, said. “Our goal is to create a retirement experience relevant to each individual who we serve. It’s important we capture our performance by measuring the overall quality of experiences at our communities so each individual is supported and engaged in meaningful ways.”
On its website, Villa Gardens says it is a “vibrant continuing care retirement community offering peace of mind with personal care, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care.”
Its program for residents include Truly Yours, a custom designed assisted living and personal service delivered to residents, with a personal care assistant providing everything from escort service to a doctor’s appointment to medication management to specialized treatments; Summer House memory care, which focuses on each individual resident’s wellbeing through personal attention, social interaction, specially designed living spaces, and creative therapies; and a skilled nursing and rehabilitative health center located on site.
