Sixty-five applicants were hired to make up the entire staff of the newly-opened HomeGoods store in Hastings Ranch Area through a city recruitment program held last month.

The Foothill Workforce Investment Board received a total of 428 applications for the store at 3803 East Foothill Boulevard which opened last Saturday, May 17.

The recruitment process was held from April 14-25 through the board’s Mobile Career Center, a 37-foot recreational vehicle was equipped with computers, Internet, copiers and other tools for job seekers.

The board said the hires were offered competitive wages and benefits.

According to the estimates of the Workforce Board, about 75 percent of the 65 hires are residents of Pasadena, but information on their residency is not available to the public.

The Foothill Workforce Investment Board’s Mobile Career Center served as the board’s recruitment headquarters since their store was not yet ready to receive applicants, said Housing and Career Services director William Huang.
