Locals Say Goodbye to New Episodes of Pasadena-centric “Big Bang Theory”

Pasadena, the nonfiction home of fictional millenials who people “The Big Bang Theory” comedy series, celebrated the show’s 12 years as a top-rated program by screening its finale at the Pasadena Convention Center Thursday night.

It was an emotional goodbye for some who gathered.

Since its premiere, the situation comedy had been set in Pasadena, with the main characters – Sheldon Cooper, Leonard Hofstadter, Howard Wolowitz, and Raj Koothrappali – playing at Caltech faculty members. Most of the other quirky cast members are portrayed as either living in Pasadena, or working in a Pasadena business.

With its wide reference to Caltech and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and frequent mention of things Pasadena, the show had endeared itself to Pasadenans, even though it was actually shot at Warner Bros. Studio in Burbank.
