The Los Altos Auxiliary recently held their Annual Installation Luncheon at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club. The group raises funds for children and adolescents supported by Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services’ residential treatment program at its El Nido campus in Altadena.

Guests included Hathaway-Sycamores’ CEO Debra Manners, Senior Vice President Joe Ford and Vice President Gina Peck-Sobolewski.

Outgoing co-president Gayle Penrod provided a warm welcome, and thanked everyone for coming. She introduced incoming co-president Carol DeFond, and thanked the outgoing board, presenting each member with a special gift.

Penrod provided an overview of the Auxiliary’s accomplishments throughout the past year. The Auxiliary raised funds that were used to enrich the lives of the youngsters who call Hathaway-Sycamores home. Throughout the year, the group organizes a number of memorable activities, projects and special treats for youth at El Nido, including: sponsoring special spring and summer activities; providing gift cards and cupcakes for each child’s birthday; hosting an annual Halloween Party; providing a Thanksgiving Dinner for youth and staff at El Nido; fulfilling each child’s holiday wish lists and delivering homemade treats; and, funding a Christmas Day trip to Disneyland for youth and chaperones.

Member Kelly Williams recognized Linda Yaussi’s appointment as a life member after serving as an active member for 25 years. Member Karen Sellergren welcomed Los Altos Auxiliary’s newest member, Maria Kurt.

Vice President at Hathaway-Sycamores, Gina Peck-Sobolewski, served as luncheon speaker. She updated the ladies on the latest activities at the residential campus and concluded by thanking each and every member for the immeasurable impact they have on the boys’ lives throughout the year.
