The Lucille & Edward Roybal Foundation held its annual Legacy Gala last week in Pasadena at the historic Tournament of Roses House. With more than 250 attendees, the Legacy Gala raised $100,000 for the foundation to support its programs that serve over 2,000 individuals each year with three basic principles – education, engagement and empowerment.

This year, the foundation honored:

• Laura Farber, President of the Tournament of Roses
• The Honorable Gloria Molina, former LA County Board of Supervisors
• The Honorable Warren Furutani, member of the California State Assembly, 55th District
• Darline Robles, PhD., Professor Rossier School of Education University of Southern California
• Ron Herrera, International V.P. Western Region, Secretary/Treasurer of Local 396
• Betty Avila, Executive Director – Self Help Graphics

Based in the heart of East Los Angeles, the Lucille and Edward R. Roybal Foundation was founded in 1985 to commemorate the legacy of leadership and community service of its founders, the late Congressman Edward R. Roybal and Mrs. Lucille Beserra Roybal. The foundation supports several community programs that engage, educate, and empower residents in the areas of mental health, careers, and financial knowledge.
