A large multinational architectural and engineering consulting firm has moved out of Pasadena into a new office at Two California Plaza in the Bunker Hill District of downtown Los Angeles.

HDR’s architecture and engineering staff now occupy an entire floor of 28,000 square feet at Two California Plaza, after pulling out from its offices at 87 N. Raymond Avenue Suite 700 in Pasadena, the company said a statement.

HDR said the new office “reflects the firm’s strong commitment to connect and improve lives through design of the built environment, clean water and transportation projects throughout Los Angeles.”

Usman Tariq, the firm’s new managing principal, is leading HDR’s architecture studio in Los Angeles, the company said. Tariq, who has been with HDR for eight years, was most recently the associate managing principal of their Washington, D.C., studio.

“The move from Pasadena is a catalyst for a storied future for HDR that is driven by excellence in design, quality and innovation, while remaining focused on client and community engagement,” Tariq said.

HDR (the name was changed from Henningson, Durham and Richardson Inc. in the 1930s) specializes in engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services.

The firm said it has over 10,000 employees working in 225 locations worldwide, operating in at least seven countries. The firm celebrated its 100th anniversary this year.
