Police say a man approached by officers for drinking in a public park ended up arrested for possession of PCP with the intent to sell.
The man was allegedly drinking beer from a 40 ounce bottle in La Pintoresca Park about 5 p.m. Friday when officers went up to him to tell him to stop, Lt. John Mercado said.
The man bolted and ran from officers, holding up his pants by the waistband as he ran, Mercado said.
Officers, fearing the man had a weapon in his waistband, tased the suspect who immediately fell onto the park’s grass, Mercado said.
Inside the man’s waistband officers reportedly found a vial containing a sufficiently large quantity of PCP to justify his arrest on a charge of PCP with intent to sell.
Pasadena resident Oscar Brown, 40, was taken into custody without further incident, Mercado said.
