A lone gunman reportedly brandished a gun, chased and may have fired a single shot at several victims in an incident Tuesday afternoon about 2:25 p.m. that began at La Pintoresca Park in the 1400 block of North Raymond Avenue and ended on North Iowa Avenue.

Both Washington Middle and Elementary Schools were briefly placed on a lockdown as police secured the scene and searched for the suspect, authorities said.

Pasadena police said that although the area near the park was quickly secured and carefully canvassed, no victims have come forward and no evidence, such as bullet casings or strikes, was found.

“Upon arrival,” said Lt. John Luna,” the park and surrounding areas were checked for victims and suspects and none were located.”

Lt. John Luna said that witnesses reported the victims were confronted in the park and fled east on Washington Boulevard and then north on Iowa Avenue, with “the suspect giving chase on foot,” Luna said.

“While on Iowa [Avenue] the suspect possibly fired a single shot,” Luna said.

Area hospitals have been notified to be on the lookout for gunshot victims in case any were struck in this incident, but none has been reported, Luna said.

The suspect is described as a black man of unknown age, standing about 5’7″ and weighing about 160 pounds. He was dressed in all black clothing, Luna said.
