Man Claims Bombs Planted in Pasadena Wells Fargo Banks

Authorities said Thursday that Pasadena police officers had responded to every branch of Wells Fargo Bank throughout Pasadena on Wednesday afternoon after a man claimed to have planted bombs at each.

Police said an employee at a Wells Fargo bank in the 1700 block of East Colorado Blvd. received a call about five minutes before closing time from a man who said he wanted some help with account information.

When the teller tried to assist the caller, he became upset and said he had planted a bomb in the bank, and at all the other Wells Fargo branches in Pasadena, authorities said.

The Pasadena Police Department immediately sent officers to secure the area and search for the bomb, along with a bomb detection K-9.

They found nothing.

Other teams of officers also checked the other Wells Fargo branches in Pasadena but found no signs of any explosive devices.

The suspect remains at large.

Anyone with information about the caller is encouraged to call Pasadena Police at (626)- 744-4241, or you may report information anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477); by using your smartphone to download the P3 Tips mobile app on Google Play or the Apple App Store; or by using the website www.lacrimestoppers.org.
