Westminster police authorities Wednesday released surveillance video footage of a man they believe could be responsible for the fatal stabbing of 22-year-old woman from Pasadena last month.

Police officials said they hope the public could help track down the man, who was shown in the footage walking up a staircase at the Quality Inn in Westminster on the afternoon of February 5.

22-Year Old Pasadena Woman“This was a brutal murder of a young woman and we hope today that the information that we’re sharing with you and the community can bring her killer to justice,” Westminster police Commander Cameron Knauerhaze said at a news conference Wednesday.

The victim, later identified as Treeanna Nichols, was found dead that day inside a room at the motel.

The Westminster Police Department said officers responded to the hotel at 6601 Westminster Blvd. after receiving a call of suspicious circumstances around 11 p.m. from the woman’s family members.

They went to conduct a welfare check on the occupant but instead found the victim dead inside the room, with multiple stab wounds.

Investigators say there was no sign of forced entry into the room, although they believe the suspect may have been injured in a struggle.

The video footage shows a man in a hooded sweatshirt using a vaping device and walking up the stairs of the motel at about 3 p.m. February 5, and then leaving a short time later. Police said the man left the scene in a dark-colored late-model four-door sedan.

Investigators believe Nichols was murdered within that timeframe.

Nichols was staying alone in the motel and had only been there a short time, police said.
