Police said a 65-year-old man was injured when a tree branch struck him, the only reported injury resulting from severe winds that ripped through Pasadena on Monday.

The incident happened at 8:32 a.m. Monday on Worcester Street, Pasadena Police Lieutenant Pete Hettema said.

Hettema said the man was standing near the tree when he heard a branch break. He tried to move away from the tree but was hit by the branch.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene and transported him to a local hospital where he was admitted for injuries to his head and for bruises, Hettema said.

He said the man is expected to recover.

Despite the wild weather, Lisa Derderian, Pasadena public information officer, said the storm produced minimal damage. She said crews responded to reports of downed tree limbs, power outages and road debris.
