A man shot in the torso in Pasadena early Wednesday morning refused to tell police anything about who shot him or why, according to Lieutenant Pete Hettema.

Hettema said police were summoned to a residence in the 100 block of Painter Street just after midnight by a caller saying someone was knocking on their front door claiming to be shot.

When police arrived at the scene they found the victim, a 26-year-old black man, had sustained a gunshot wound to his torso. Police said he would not provide any details about the circumstances surrounding why he was shot.

Police said a possible crime scene related to the incident was found at King’s Villages community housing projects.

The man was taken to a local hospital and underwent surgery. He is expected to recover, police reports indicate.
