Man With Fake Beard Robs Check ‘N Go Clerk At Gunpoint Wednesday

Police are looking for a 40 to 50-year-old man who wore a fake beard when he reportedly robbed a clerk at a Check ‘N Go location in the 100 block of West California Blvd. in Pasadena late Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect, possibly Hispanic or white, according to a police description, was armed with a handgun when he demanded money from the clerk at about 5:28 p.m. Wednesday.

“The suspect entered the store and immediately put on a fake bread,” according to Pasadena Police Lt. Pete Hettema. “Believing the store was about to be robbed, the clerk activated the silent alarm. The suspect walked up to the clerk, brandished a handgun at him and demanded the money. Fearing for his life, the clerk gave the suspect money from the register.”

Before the suspect left, he ordered the clerk to lie on the floor and then exited in an unknown direction. Responding officers arrived within a minute of the suspect leaving, Lt. Hettema said.

The suspect is said to be about 5′ 10″ tall and weighs about 230-250 pounds. He was wearing a light blue shirt and used a dark-colored handgun, police said.

The clerk was not injured during the incident, and the suspect is still at large.
