Maranatha High School football Head Coach Steve Bogan will be guest at the Pasadena Quarterbacks meeting on Friday, October 27, at the University Club in Pasadena.
He will be joined by Fox Sports’ Rules Analyst Mike Pereira, who formerly was vice president for officiating of the National Football League.
Bogan was named Head Coach at Maranatha High School in 2014. With over 30 years of coaching experience, he brings to Maranatha significant experience in building a quality football program and developing student-athletes. He served as the head coach of South Hills High School for 20 years, during which he led his teams to 10 League Championships, reaching the CIF Quarterfinals 11 years in a row, and made eight semifinals appearances. His teams have reached the CIF Finals five times, winning four CIF Championships in three different divisions.
Regarded by many as one of the best coaches in Southern California, Bogan was named the San Gabriel Valley Tribune Coach of the Decade (2000-2009), during which time the Tribune and CIF-SS also named him Divisional Coach of the Year twice.
He has coached in numerous All-Star games and has been a presenter at a number of coaching clinics throughout the years. Coach Bogan’s teams at South Hills had a 32-12 playoff record (73 percent) covering three league and four divisional moves over a 20-year period.
Mike Pereira has been rules analyst for both NFL and college football at Fox Sports since 2010. He also contributes to Fox Sports Radio and videos.
Before joining Fox, Pereira served as a college football official, including the Big West Conference and Western Athletic Conference, after which he moved to the NFL to eventually be promoted to Vice President for Officiating. During this time, Pereira appeared on the show “NFL Total Access” on the NFL Network.
Pereira founded Battlefields to Ballfields (www.battlefields2ballfields.org), a non-profit organization that assists veterans with scholarships and funds to help them learn officiating in their communities when they return from service. In 2012, he was featured on Sports Illustrated and recognized as an NFL broadcasting treasure.
Pereira is from Stockton California and earned his B.A. in Finance at Santa Clara University. Pereira commutes each weekend to Fox’s Los Angeles studio; he and his wife Gail live in Sacramento.
