Charging Pitbull is Shot By Police During Parolee Search

On May 14, 2014 shortly before 11:00 a.m., uniform Detective personnel were in the process of conducting a parole search at a residence in the 1700 block of El Sereno Avenue, Pasadena. Officers were standing in the driveway conversing with occupants and directing them to control their loose dogs, when a large adult male pitbull charged the officers from the open front door. When the aggressive dog came within three feet of attacking the officers, police shot the dog. The dog died at the scene and was removed by Animal Control. No persons were injured. Detectives responded and conducted the investigation.

Pasadena Police arrested multiple occupants for the following charges:

1. Hernandez, Salvador (Hispanic male, 19 years old, Pasadena resident) for parole violation;

2. Moreno, Jose David (Hispanic male, 35 years old, Pasadena resident) for PC 148.1 willfully resist, delays or obstructs arrest;

3. Hernandez, Emmanuel (Hispanic male, 21 years old, Pasadena resident) for PC 148.1 willfully resist, delays or obstructs arrest; and

4. Banuelos, Mayde (Hispanic female, 23 years old, Pasadena resident) for misdemeanor warrant.

All suspects were booked at the Pasadena Police Department jail.
