Men Educating Men About Health (MEMAH) will spotlight 3 honorees for their community leadership at the Pasadena organization’s Annual Gala on Saturday, April 29. MEMAH seeks to empower the community at large, with knowledge of traditional treatments and alternative options that can improve health, quality of life, and longevity.

District 3 City Councilmember John J. Kennedy will be awarded “Man of the Year” for his many years of devoted service to the greater Pasadena community. In a press release, MEMAH said that Councilmember Kennedy champions the important issues that affect every resident, business owner, and visitor to Pasadena and quoted Kennedy as saying it is his “mission in life to seek justice, right wrongs, be a good steward of the resources that belong to the people and bring people together for a higher purpose.”

“Woman of the Year Award” will go to Margaret B. Martinez, Chief Executive Officer of ChapCare, for her deep commitment to the health of vulnerable populations. Under her leadership, ChapCare successfully operates eight health centers in the San Gabriel Valley, which offer a full range of healthcare services.

“I continue to be inspired each time we open a new venue for services in Pasadena and in the surrounding communities we serve,” says Martinez.

The Rose Bowl Operating Company (RBOC), receiving the “Business of the Year” Award, will be recognized for its economic and civic contributions to the Pasadena community. The RBOC will continue its community investment by reportedly increasing the number of its Pasadena food and beverage vendors at the upcoming Arroyo Seco Weekend, and participating in a new Adopt-A-School program with Cleveland Elementary School beginning in the 2017-18 school year.

MEMAH Board President Justin Chapman says of the honorees, “MEMAH is proud to continue our tradition of honoring those who positively impact and strengthen our community in essential ways, and we look forward to spotlighting their efforts.” Men Educating Men about Health (MEMAH), is dedicated to raising the awareness, importance, and understanding of men’s and women’s health issues.
