[UPDATED Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013 | 5:30 p.m.]A missing 76 year old woman who was the subject of a police manhunt Friday night was found dead today in the wreck of her dark blue 2007 Lexus in the San Rafael Hills southwest of the Rose Bowl.

Pasadena police Lt. Jason Clawson said there were apparently no other cars involved in the accident.

Gretchen Leonard had last been seen driving in east Pasadena on Friday night and became the subject of widespread media alerts as time went by.

Police had told CBS-LA.com that Leonard had also gone missing last year but was later found after she mistakenly drove to Tarzana.

Police said that Leonard’s vehicle was found on Manford Way near Glen Oaks Blvd. in hilly terrain in west Pasadena. The car was noticed at the bottom of an embankment by a passer-by, authorities said.

It is not known if injuries from the crash were the cause of Leonard’s death.
