The Shakespeare Club, who often enjoys an “August Under The Arbor” party, extended an invitation to the Grand Avenue area as part of their “Our Arroyo Neighbors” program and hosted a “National Night Out” potluck. This is the first year this neighborhood has participated in the program and it was enthusiastically enjoyed. Many neighbors from the Arroyo Vista Bungalows and neighboring homes joined club members for a country-fair style potluck which included hot dog and shortcake buffets. The club’s Social Activities Committee created the event; the Membership Committee welcomed guests; and the newly formed Culture/Drama/Music Committee provided a musical welcome.
Officers, Detectives, and Citizen Volunteers representing the Pasadena Police Department stopped by throughout the evening.
The Shakespeare Club, established in 1888, is celebrating it’s 130th Anniversary as one of the first women’s clubs in the West. It’s Golden Age Gala will be October 13th. The club is joining with the Pasadena Museum of History for two upcoming cultural events, “Too Beautiful for Hollywood” on October 29 and “Powerful Women” on November 13. The recently renovated Ballroom will be on view during a Bridal Open House planned for January 13, 2019.
