The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works will close New York Drive in Altadena between Altadena Drive and Allen Avenue to all non-local traffic starting Thursday, May 16, when work on a pavement reconstruction project on the roadway begins.

During this time, only residents will be allowed to enter the designated segment, and local driveway access will be maintained, a Public Works advisory said.

Detour signages have already been installed to divert non-local traffic.

For residents, parking may be restricted at times, and temporary No Parking signs may be posted from time to time along the construction route at least one day before work crews arrive.

The Public Works announcement said work will include removal of the existing asphalt pavement, regrading, paving and restriping of the roadway. From Thursday, work will continue on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Following this work, the contractor, Sully-Miller Contracting Company, will begin Phase 2 of the project, from Allen Avenue to Hill Avenue, in June, according to the announcement.

Residents and non-locals may obtain details and updates on the project online by visiting the project website, www.AltadenaNewYorkDr.com.
