Newly-Married Husband Allegedly Tries to Kill His Bride

A newly-married man allegedly tried to shoot his wife Sunday after the pair had argued violently the day before, police said.
Pasadena police Lt. Pete Hettema said the man struck the woman on Saturday while the pair argued. The man left but said in a second argument he would return and “shoot the door.”
On Sunday, the suspect returned to the residence in the 1500 block of North El Sereno Avenue about 1 p.m. He entered the home armed with a handgun, Hettema said.
“He pointed the gun at the direction of the victim and fired one round which struck a TV,” Hettema said. “The victim was not injured.”
The man immediately fled, Hettema said.
Pasadena police were able to locate the man in a different residence about two hours later. He was taken into custody and a weapon was recovered, Hettema said.
Dion Lee Vaughns, 26, of Pasadena, was booked for attempted homicide.
Booking records show Vaughns is currently being held in the Pasadena City Jail in lieu of $1 million bail.
