Omar Lorenzana was sworn in on Wednesday as South Pasadena’s newest police officer

Lorenzana, who resides in Downey with his wife Jessica, took the oath from South Pasadena Police Chief Art Miller.

Many of Lorenzana’s family members were on hand for the ceremony inside the City Council chambers at City Hall. The officer’s wife, Jessica, pinned the police badge on her husband’s uniform. Lorenzana’s sister, Monica, and brother, Antonio, also took part in the morning event, making special presentations to their sibling.

A graduate of Rio Hondo Police Academy, Lorenzana worked as a security officer at Guardsmark Security in Gardena earlier in his career.

The hiring of Lorenzana brings the total number of sworn officers at the South Pasadena Police Department to 35.
