The Oregon Ducks migrated to Pasadena and demolished the Florida State Seminoles, 59-20, in the 101st Rose Bowl on a picture post card day at the granddaddy of them all.

The game served as the semi-final in the inaugural College Football Playoff; the Ducks will now play the winner of the Alabama vs.. Ohio State game on January 12th in Dallas,Texas in the first ever CFP National Championship Game.

The Ducks speed and defense broke FSU’s 29 game winning streak as the Seminoles waived the white flag long before the clock read zero. The stadium was forest green with a strong Oregon fan base who were not disappointed when after halftime Oregon outscored Florida State 41-7. Florida State turned the ball over five times in the second half leading to the avalanche of points by the feared “quack attack”.

A game that was hyped so much lived up to its billing despite the lopsided score.

Florida State suffered their first lost since November 24, 2012. The starting QB and Heisman winner Jameis Winston for FSU had never lost a game in 26 starts. But things were different on this New Year’s Day.
