Outdoor Watering Limited to One Day per Week Starting November 1

The City of Pasadena will enforce a one day per week outdoor watering limit starting November 1 as the city’s Level 2 Water Shortage Plan continues to be in effect.

Outdoor watering will be done only on Saturdays in the fall and winter months from November 1 through March 31 in 2016. Under the Level 2 Plan, watering between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. is prohibited, water leaks should be repaired within 48 hours, and the filling of ornamental lakes and ponds is not allowed.

Pasadena Water and Power also reported that water waste reporting has proven to be effective in helping Pasadena achieve a 25% reduction in water use to date. More than 4,000 water waste incidents have been reported in the community for the year, although 95 percent of the incidents resulted to compliance without a fine being issued.

PWP personnel also started conducting early morning patrols in October to expand water waste enforcement in the city.

“Feedback from the community indicates that additional water wasting is happening as a result of residents irrigating more frequently than the designated watering days and in the early hours before the sun rises,” PWP said. “To ensure that we are all doing our part to conserve, effective October 1, 2015, PWP’s water waste enforcement has been expanded to include early morning patrols.”
