On April 15, 2014, students from the City of Pasadena gathered with their families at Pacific Oaks College to celebrate the completion of a 12-unit certificate program in early childhood development. This program was initiated two years ago by Ms. Mercy Santoro, Director of Human Services and Recreation for the City of Pasadena, and Dr. Ezat Parnia, President of Pacific Oaks College and Children’s School, for staff members of the Human Services and Recreation Department. Professors Olga Winbush, Suzanne Evans, Lacy Olivarez and Jayanti Tambe were the lead faculty members.
Dr. Parnia stated that “It has been an honor for Pacific Oaks College to partner with the City of Pasadena to provide an opportunity for city employees to advance their education and in turn their careers. I speak on behalf of the faculty and staff when I say that we look forward to future collaborations with the City to help prepare individuals become culturally intelligent agents of change.â€
