Pasadena police officers arrested an 18-year-old Los Angeles woman and a juvenile female after they were tagged as suspects in an attempted purse snatching in the area of Filmore Street and Marengo Avenue in Pasadena Friday night.
Using a Pasadena police helicopter, the officers were able to track the suspects’ movements after the attempt.
Police Lt. William Grisafe said the incident happened at around 8:20 p.m. The victim, a 50-year-old Pasadena woman, was walking in the 600 block of Marengo Avenue when the two suspects, walking in the opposite direction, attempted to grab her purse.
“They were unable to and then they fled westbound toward the Arroyo Parkway,” Grisafe said. “The observer in our helicopter found the suspects that matched the description. Officers contacted and confirmed that it was in fact the suspects who attempted to take the purse. They were arrested without incident.”
The victim did not suffer any injuries during the incident.
Grisafe the adult suspect was identified as Betsy Lopez, 18 years old, a Los Angeles resident. She was booked for attempted robbery.
