Parsons announced that its Chairman and CEO, Charles L. “Chuck” Harrington, will serve as the keynote speaker at the Pasadena Educational Foundation’s (PEF’s) annual spring fundraiser. Titled “Celebrating Our Schools, Envision 2017,” this event will take place on Tuesday, May 2 at 5:00 p.m. in the Pasadena City Hall Courtyard.

“I look forward to participating in PEF’s annual spring event,” said Harrington. “PEF has been supporting public education in the communities of Pasadena, Altadena, and Sierra Madre since 1971, and Parsons is proud of its tradition of supporting honorable and educational organizations, particularly those with a commitment to the progress of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) educational programming for the next generation.”

As an international engineering, construction, technical, and management services firm, Parsons understands the value of introducing students to STEM and has spearheaded and/or supported STEM internship and in-school programs in the communities where our employees live and work. Parsons has been supporting PEF through board memberships and financial contributions since 1999, and throughout the past 20 years, Parsons employees have enjoyed volunteering to work with Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) students to perform real engineering and science. In addition, Parsons’ staff has participated in other PUSD activities such as mock interviews and resume workshops.

“We are excited to have Chuck Harrington at our spring event to share his vision of the future, the power of workplace diversity, and his passion for innovation and education,” said PEF Executive Director Patrick Conyers. “Parsons has been a major PEF supporter for many years, and has contributed to many STEM initiatives in PUSD.”

“It’s important for our community to join together with PEF to support public schools. Today’s students will be tomorrow’s leaders, and they will be the pioneers and innovators of the future,” Harrington added. “Parsons and PEF believe strong schools build strong communities.”

PEF is a nonprofit organization that advocates for public education, engages the community, and develops resources to support excellent education for every PUSD student. Whether it be through the arts, music, health centers, gardens, or STEM programs they support, PEF is dedicated to creating a better future for the public school students of Altadena, Pasadena, and Sierra Madre.
