Parsons is pleased to announce that Ross Ridenoure, Vice President of Nuclear Energy Initiatives and Chief Nuclear Officer, was honored with the 2012 North American Young Generation in Nuclear (NA-YGN) George Hairston Visionary Leadership Award on August 9. Mr. Ridenoure was presented with the award at the 2012 International Youth Nuclear Congress in Charlotte, NC, where he delivered the closing remarks. NA-YGN established this award in honor of George Hairston, an energetic and vocal supporter of the organization in his role as President and CEO of Southern Nuclear. The award recognizes the contributions of executives in the nuclear industry that go above and beyond in their support of NA-YGN.

Mr. Ridenoure joined Parsons in January 2011 and is responsible for supporting Parsons’ business expansion into domestic and international nuclear energy markets. He was the first ever Chair of the NA-YGN Executive Advisory Committee and his personal outreach efforts in the past several years have accounted for numerous new chapter kick-offs, funding sponsorships, and executive support for NA-YGN activities.

“We congratulate Ross for receiving the George Hairston Award and we are proud of his contributions to the nuclear industry,” said Tom Roell, Parsons Group Executive, Operations/Risk.

In addition to his involvement with NA-YGN, Mr. Ridenoure is a member of the American Nuclear Society, the Nuclear Energy Institute’s Nuclear Strategic Issues Advisory Committee, and the NuScale Power Customer Advisory Board. He was formerly the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Utilities Service Alliance and was a member of the Strategic Teaming and Resource Sharing Steering Committee and the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations Executive Advisory Group.

Mr. Ridenoure has held senior reactor operator licenses or certifications on three different commercial nuclear power plants and holds undergraduate degrees in nuclear engineering technology and sociology from Excelsior College and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska.

NA-YGN provides opportunities for a young generation of nuclear enthusiasts to develop leadership and professional skills, create life-long connections, engage and inform the public, and inspire today’s nuclear technology professionals to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
