Pasadena Bead and Design Show Brings Mesmerizing Array of Gems, Jewelry, Clothing and So Much More Than Just Beads

The Pasadena Bead and Design Show returns to the Hilton Pasadena on from Thursday to Friday and features 300 galleries and displays under one roof with jewelry pieces and other items from knowledgeable merchants and artisans, who will be offering their latest trends in traditional handcraft design.

“It’s all about meeting the artists and getting to meet them directly and interact to let them know that you’re buying a piece from them. You get to hear the whole history and story of the piece. Everything is also sold at great prices because you’re buying everything direct,” said Casey Johnson of Garan-Beadagio, LLC who is also the show manager.

The 18th Pasadena Bead and Design show has been up and running since 2008 and features two shows per year in Pasadena that features mesmerizing displays of jewelry pieces that will catch anyone’s gazing eyes.

The goal is to present new and dynamic products, organized around a theme of traditional handcraft, not as archaic style, but as an element of human form and spirit, according to a press release.

“We have unique gems and minerals from all over the world,” said Johnson.

From enameling to metal work, you can literally hammer out your designs at the show.

“What’s different from other shows is that we also offer workshops so we can teach you how to make your own jewelry right here,” said Johnson.

Workshops are offered daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and include Making Art Glass, Bejeweled Leather Cuff, Advanced Copper Alchemy, Wire Sculpture Drusy, Enameled Flower Cuff, Serenity Pearl Spiral, Shibori Silk Wrist Wrap, Sestricka, and Painted Garden in Silver Clay.

Each workshop is taught by a beadmaker/artisan/designer and focuses on a traditional handcraft such as enamel bead making, art glass, art clay silver, kumihimo, beadwork, riveting, soldering, metal and wire work, according to the press release.

Don’t be fooled. The Pasadena Bead and Design show features much more than just beads.

“We have everything from finished jewelry, art jewelry, gold and silver, to handmade beads, art clothing, wearable art, antiquities vintage items, gems and minerals and much more,” explained Johnson.

The bead show is up an running through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily at the Hilton Pasadena located at 168 S Los Robles Ave.
