Pasadena Chamber Helps Bring Career Experience to Pasadena Unified’s Marshall High Students

During the fall semester, the Pasadena Chamber and its members helped facilitate an opportunity for the Marshall Fundamental High School Academy for Creative Industries (ACI) students to gain knowledge and enrich their creative arts aspirations with the coordination of ACI Career Day.

The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce & Civic Association supported this endeavor by recruiting guest speaker Val Sklar Robinson from Pasadena Chamber member Hot Yoga Pasadena. Val kicked off ACI Career Day with a powerful opening session discussing the importance of self-care, exercise, and practicing healthy eating habits.

The day continued with each student attending one – two hour Masterclass session facilitated by Arts Industry Professionals. It is opportunities like this that give students a view from a wider lens and a more in-depth perspective into the world of art and artistry. The knowledge gained and the time spent are beneficial in meeting their graduation requirements, as well as, supporting their college and career goals.

The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce & Civic Association has been providing Pasadena Unified School District with guest speakers, job shadows, field trips, mock interviews, mentoring, compensated internships for students, externships for teachers and recruiting advisory board members since 2015.

Anyone interested in supporting the Chamber’s work-based learning initiatives with PUSD can support these efforts (and keep the program going) by donating to the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce Foundation. We are hoping to raise $10,000 by December 31, 2018. (Just in time for tax exemptions.) Donate at so we can continue this important work with Pasadena Unified School District students.

The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce and Civic Association is very grateful for the assistance and support we receive from our members and the business community as a whole. Without the many companies, agencies and individuals who step up to support work-based learning in our community, our local students could not have the experiences, develop the confidence and build their own entrepreneurial and workplace skills.

The public can support the Chamber’s work-based learning and workforce development activities by donating to the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Any donation is 100% tax deductible and will go directly to supporting the work with students in our local public schools. Donate at

Anyone who would like to volunteer your time, host and intern, be a job shadow location or mentor a local student can visit and fill out the brief volunteer form.

The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce and Civic Association is a business service member organization that works to ensure the prosperity of its members through a variety of offerings including referrals, networking, workshops and seminars, events and much more.
