Pasadena City Attorney/City Prosecutor Michele Beal Bagneris was elected by fellow city attorneys throughout California to a two-year term on the Board of Directors for the League of California Cities. She and other new officers were installed at the closing general session of the League’s 117th Annual Conference in San Jose in Oct. 2.

Ms. Bagneris is the first African-American to be elected by city attorneys throughout the state to serve as the City Attorney representative on the Board. She previously served as the President of the League’s City Attorneys’ Department 10 years ago and has served in several other leadership capacities with the League during the past 30 years. She is also currently on the Board of Directors for the Institute for Local Government, an arm of the League that provides resources and encourages good government practices by local governments.

“I am honored to have been elected to the League’s Board of Directors by my peers and to represent Pasadena in voting on issues that our city faces,” Ms. Bagneris said. “I am pleased to serve the entire state and to help address the many challenges we face together. I look forward to representing the City of Pasadena at such an important organization, especially in the vital role as a board member.”

During the Annual Conference’s closing session, Bagneris voted on Resolutions passed by the League as the City of Pasadena’s voting delegate, as authorized by the Pasadena City Council. Her participation and votes ensured that Pasadena’s interests are represented on a variety of issues that the League is working on with state leaders.

The League of California Cities is a nonprofit statewide association established in 1898 that advocates for cities with the state and federal governments and provides education and training services to elected and appointed city officials.
